The Buddha's Final Words

The Buddha preached the Dhamma for forty-five years for the good and happiness of all beings. When He was eighty years old, He felt that He had done all His work. While He was staying in Capala Cetiya, the Buddha told Venerable Ananda that He would pass away (demise) in three mouth's time. Hearing that Venerable Ananda begged The Buddha to stay on. However, the Buddha reminded Venerable Ananda about the true nature of life, that the Buddha too had to pass away one day.
In front of all the monks, the Buddha spoke these words:
" I have taught the Dhamma to you. Study and practice them well so that this Holy life may last long for the good and happiness of the many.
He then gave His last words.
'' Nothing lasts forever. Continue to work hard. At the end of three months from now the Buddha will pass away.''
